candle 1My Favorite Time Of Year

The look of fall is starting to fill my home. There is just something about this time of year that I love.  The beautiful earth tone colors, the changing leaves, the smell of fall, and cool weather.  These are just to name a few reasons why I love fall.

One of my favorite items to decorate my home with are candles.  I love the warmth and ambiance it creates in the home. It is so inviting and yet so relaxing after a long day of work. Honestly, it even relaxes the children as they enjoy soaking in the flickering candles and because we have a 3 year old at home she stays still long enough because it is hot. LOL

There are a few obstacles I run into when looking for candles.  First, finding the right color that doesn’t cost me an arm and a leg.  Usually those beautiful colors I want come with a high price tag I just can’t afford. Can you relate?  Second, is that these beautiful candles melt quickly and drip down the sides making for a messy candle I can’t decorate.

If I try to wrap Add a Little Dazzle Craft Metal Sheets around them, the metal is quickly ruined and the candles no longer look beautiful as a decorative piece in my home that I can actually use.  I am excited to tell you I have found a solution to these problems and I will be sharing the solutions with you but you must keep reading.

candle 2The Process

To create this candle, I started by taking a plain white/vanilla candle and I painted it with Copper Inka Gold. Using Inka Gold allowed me to create my candle in a color of my choice and it was so easy to do. Then, I used the  Leaf Background Stamp Set from Stampendous and stamped over the candle with Gold Ink. This helped add some texture to the candle without adding too much.

To create the leaf I rubbed the Anti-Static Bag over the piece of craft metal sheet, took the Jumbo Leaves Stamp Set and stamped the leaf onto a piece of Dark Rich Chocolate Craft Metal Sheet, poured Gold Embossing Powder over it, and set it with the Heat Tool. Then, I took the coordinating Leaf Die Cut Set and die cut the leaf. I placed the leaf on the candle and shaped it around it and wrapped some twine around it for an added touch of fall.

I could have attached it, but I will teach you how to do that next week in a new tutorial I will be sharing on how to attach Add a Little Dazzle Craft Metal Sheets to candles.
