Hope you had a wonderful weekend!  On Saturday we had a soccer game and two graduation parties to attend.  Sunday was church and preparing for club on Monday. We are tired but enjoyed our weekend with the children and friends.  This summer is full of graduation parties and lots of exciting events. I can't wait for it to warm up so we can get out more. 

 

Today's post was inspired by the Candy Bar Slider idea that is all over the internet.  I wanted a different look and so I turned my Candy Bar Slider into a Card & Gift Card Holder.  I wanted it to be elegant and classy and so I decided to use Gold Nugget Metal Sheets and the Tulip Frames Impressions Folder.  This elegant wrap is smaller than the Impressions Folder but so easy to make using my FREE TUTORIAL.  To create extra texture to the Basic Black Cardstock, I used the "Swirls" Jumbo Wheel, Basic Black Craft Ink, and embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder to create an elegant but not overpowering look. The chocolate bar was wrapped in Basic Black Satin Ribbon and the center image was placed in a flattened bottle cap and sealed it for a professional finished look.

  

I created an area for writing a graduation message with Basic Black and Whisper White Cardstock.  I used the "Happy Graduation" stamp from "Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set" and stamped it on the top of the matted piece.  Then, I attached this matted piece to Black Satin Ribbon with Snail Adhesive.  I made sure to leave an empty space at the bottom of the Satin Ribbon so I could place a Mini Glue Dot to hold the gift card in place.  This "Graduation Candy Bar & Gift Card Holder Slider" is so easy to make and is great to have handy for those graduation parties you will be attending this summer. If you are hosting the Graduation Party, then you can leave it without the matted piece and use it as a party favor.  The great thing is we have 19 colors of metal to choose from so you can rest assured you will be able to match your slider with the graduate's school colors. Note: You can make 6 belly bands from one sheet of metal.

Bella Bleu Altered Gifts ...

Good Afternoon Stampers,

I am sorry to have been missing for two days.  It has been quite hectic at the Add a Little Dazzle Studio.  I have added a new member to my team of assistants and she has been whipping my office and all of us in to shape with organization.  We are so organized that we have to ask Val where things are because we don't even know. LOL  Oh my goodness!  How does one demonstrator accumulate so many things?  The past two weeks has been nonstop reorganizing, sorting, and prepping for the new catalog.  Honestly, if it wasn't for my awesome team of assistants there is no way I could prep for clubs and classes, post, take orders, process orders, send out orders, keep the office in shape, and have a life.  My team is awesome and I am so blessed to have them in my life.  Thank you for all you do Tonie, Val, and Cathy.  I love you all and couldn't do what I do without you!  Thank you for loving me and my family the way you all do.  We thank you for all your hardwork!

As we were cleaning the office, I came across these little notebooks that have been around forever.  It feels like I have 10 million of them or so the team tells me. LOL I decided to pull one out and make it dazzling with Bronzed God Metal Sheets,  Finial Press Impressions Folder, and Bella Bleu DSP.  I love how this came out and it was so easy to make. There are some important tips to remember when making these: 1. Don't put metal sheets on the spine, 2. Use Sticky Strip to attach the Bronzed God Metal Sheet to the notebook, 3. Line the inside flaps with matching DSP, 4. Sand the edges and distress it with some Soft Suede Classic Ink, and 5.  Create a matching Mini Gel Pen with Bronzed God Metal Sheets.  I didn't write a tutorial today since this project has been around forever.  If you have any questions, please email me at monica@addalittledazzle.com and I will be glad to answer your questions.

In our cleaning spree, we also found these little metal square containers that I own in bulk (LOL).    I added embossed Bronzed God Metal Sheets (used Finial Impressions Folder, added Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon, created a tag using the "Elements of Style" stamp set (#118611-Wood and #120045-Clear) found in the new Summer Mini Catalog, set an eyelet, and added some gold elastic cord for a complete look.  This box can be filled with candy, jewelry, and even a Simply Adorned piece of jewelry.  Next week I will post the directions for this box along with a beautiful piece that will be placed inside.  You don't want to miss it!  These are also perfect for baby showers, bridal showers, birthdays, communions etc.  Would you like to create either of these projects?  No, problem but don't forget you will need Metal Sheets.

Graduation Card Class and To-Go Kit....

Good Morning Stampers,

I am so excited to share with you this graduation card ensemble I created that showcases two different embossing designs and four different metal sheets (Silver, Copper, Gold Nugget, and Peacock).  These cards are stunning and each come with a matching embossed envelope flap.  I have created two masculine graduation cards and two feminine graduation cards and have stored them in a beautiful handmade box featured in this post.  These are stunning and different from anything you have ever seen or can find in a store.  The recipients of these cards will love it and will treasure it for years to come.

I will be offering this class here in Taos, New Mexico on Tuesday, May 25th at 6:00 p.m.  Along with creating this beautiful ensembe my customers will be learning a new technique. I will teach my class attendees how to use "Embossed Metal Backing Paste".  What is that?  This is a paste that when applied to the embossed areas on the back of the card fronts will keep them safe so that the front embossed image will not be crushed. The "Embossed Metal Backing Paste" is easy to apply, not messy, and dries within 20 minutes.  The filling will continue to dry and harden throughout time to protect your embossed image.  I have tried pressing down on an image with back filler and the image has not been crushed.  Depending on the design of the metal and how big the space you can fill between 20-25 cards.

In Honour of My Son's Graduation....

Texturz Plates.  My favorite thing is that no matter what color of metal sheet you choose you can't go wrong.  A classic look personalized for the graduate in a matter of minutes without ever repeating a card.  My suggestion is make a bunch of the embossed images and leave them ready to go. When the need arises to give a card all you have to do is pull out your metal sheet, emboss it, and quickly assemble your card.  Last night, my baby boy graduated from preschool and is headed towards kindergarten.  I know he has to grow up, but it is really difficult for me as I remember his birth like it was just yesterday.  He was our miracle child after losing our first daughter.  I know it is a long time before he leaves, but yet I know it isn't because the years go by too quickly.  Today's post is in honour of my son.  He is such a sweet boy and is so tenderhearted.  The smile you see on his face is how he is all the time.  He is loving, caring, and follows after his father's example of being a wonderful man. God has truly blessed me with a wonderful husband.  My son is a mini version of my husband; I couldn't ask for anything more.  Did you know my husband and I met on the internet? Yup!  I found my perfect gift from God on the internet.

My son is also at the stage where he loves to make "cooky faces".  He loves for us to take pictures with him making silly faces.  We took this picture at the graduation reception held for the children. He thinks this one is hilarious. I think it is because you can just see the whites in his eyes.

Last night, our son woke up at 1 am with a horrible cough and was having a hard time breathing.  We gave him a breathing treatment, but it didn't work. His cough got worst and he asked if he could watch cartoons at 1 a.m. He couldn't breathe unless he was in the upright position.  Normally, we would never do that but we figured he would fall asleep right away since it was 1 AM and he would be in the upright position making it easier to breathe.  Dad held him in the recliner while I lay on the couch.  Hubby and I fell asleep, but not our son.  He was wired and couldn't sleep all night and so he was bouncing off the walls.  I was in and out of sleep and he told me he just wasn't sleepy.  This afternoon I took him to see the doctor as I was concerned.  Thank God the doctor said he was fine.  He has an ear infection, but his breathing is fine.  She said it was probably a result of us having the heater on in the house. She said he didn't need the breathing treatment and when a child doesn't need it they get wired and bounce off the walls like he did last night.  We went out to eat dinner, and he FINALLY passed out on my lap.  My hubby and I are exhausted and struggling to stay awake.  Unfortunately, our 3 year old daughter is wide awake so sleeping is not an option yet.  My hubby is so tired. He went and gave himself a breathing treatment to see if it wakes him up. He is so silly I can't believe he did that.  I just asked him if it is working. Not yet. He did say he is getting a headache. GOOF BALL!

I am so excited that you are enjoying the graduation cards.  Aren't they beautiful?  The Stampin' Up! Graduation Card/Gift Card Holder, Winner, and More....

Today I am excited to share with you another graduation card.  I absolutely LOVE the stamp "Happy Grad" found in the Summer Mini Catalog.  I love the simple, clean cut look of it.  As you can see, I have once again used Texturz Plates  Backgrounds #1 Series to create this elegant graduation card. This card is elegant, yet masculine. 

I did do something a little different with the inside of this card, I made a window where you can easily slip in a gift card, money, or check.  See the inside?  This was easily created using the word window punch.  Detailed instructions for creating this window and card can be found in the FREE pdf file link you will see below.  I also used the Well Scripted Stamp Set to stamp Congratulations beneath the window and you still have enough room to write a message. 

For the front of this card, I used Gold Nugget Metal Sheets.  It is absolutely beautiful!  You can also use silver or any other color of your choice to match the graduate's school colors.  These are so easy to make and will be loved by the recipient.  Below you will find more details about purchasing metal sheets.

Is Your Purse Making You Sick? and Winners....

Hello Stampers,

As a woman, I LOVE DAZZLING PURSES and never go anywhere without mine.  The scary thing is that when I enter a place full of germs so does my purse.  That means I end up carrying these germs with me wherever I go and could make me and my family sick.

Recent studies found that most women's purse had tens of thousands of bacteria on the bottom and a few were overrun with millions.  Microbiologists have found fecal matter normally found in restrooms on the bottom of women's purses. They found bacteria that can cause skin infections on the bottom of purses.  This indicates we can be picking up a lot of other germs like cold viruses or viruses that cause diarrhea.  ABC News and microbiologist Chuck Gerba ran an instant field test and later a lab test on swabs from the outside bottom of 10 women's purses, every single one had at least some bacteria, most had tens of thousands and a few were saturated with millions.  One even had 6.7 million bacteria.  Half of the bags tested positive for coliform bacteria, which indicated the possible presence of human or animal waste.

When I read this I was sickened and couldn't imagine placing my purse on the floor anywhere I go.  How many times have you been to a restaurant and had no where to place your purse so you place it on the floor?  Just think about where your feet that are touching the floor had been and when you place your purse on the floor what germs are clinging to your purse?  YUCK!!!

 I HAVE A GREAT SOLUTION:  Instead of placing your purse on the floor, hang it on a hook whenever possible--especially in public bathrooms. Here is my purse hanging from my bathroom door with the hook.  Can you see it on the top?
