Hi! My name is Monica Weaver and I am a full-time Stampin' Up demonstrator.
After teaching middle school and high school for ten years, I left my career as a teacher, two years ago, to become a stay at home mom. I have to admit that although I was thankful for being able to do this it was also very difficult for me as I was used to always teaching. At one point in my life I was depressed because I felt I had gone to college and earned my Bachelor's Degree in Special Education and then my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction in Bilingual Education and now I stayed at home. I had to come to the point in my life to realize that being a teacher was not what defined who I was. My worth didn't come from teaching but from God and who I was in Him. That was an eye opening moment in my life!
After quitting my job as a teacher, I found out I was pregnant once again. I knew it would mean bedrest. I have high-risk pregnancies that require me to be on bedrest at home or at the hospital for three months. This pregnancy was no different. The only difference was my outlook on life and how I would deal with it. See, we had just moved to a new town where I knew nobody and was on bedrest at home with a 2 year old. Well, during my time in our new town I discovered a scrapbooking store and it quickly became a place I loved going to. I loved what I saw and decided I would use the time on bedrest to make my daughter's birth announcements. This is where it all began! I was hooked and loved spending time making cards and papercrafting.
Months later, I discovered Stampin' Up! and drove 2 hours to attend my first Stamp a Stack class. I loved it!! I was in awe of the beautiful cards you could create with rubber stamps. Two weeks later I signed up as a demonstrator so that I could receive my discount. A friend asked me to have a workshop for her and the rest is history. I loved what I was doing, I was making money, and I was able to stay at home with my two youngest children. This was the perfect job for me because it gave me the opportunity to continue teaching. At this point, I decided to take it a step further and start my own business. How exciting! I loved the ability to be able to teach others about stamping.
I have to tell you that God has blessed me with a wonderful husband that has encouraged me to follow my dreams and is 100% supportive of my business! He believes in me and I thank God for that. I also have three beautiful children. My kids mean the world to me. God has truly blessed me with the most wonderful family!
Throughout this experience, I learned the importance of making time for myself. I had to realize that it was ok. and that I didn't have to feel guilty about it. I realized that if I was happy then I would be able to be a better wife and mom to my family. I know we are all busy with our jobs and family but trust me when I tell you that your family will be much happier when you are happy. You may not have a lot of time to stamp but make sure to make time for you.
If you would like to chat or are interested in starting your own business and feel this is something that you would love to do, please feel free to email me or call me at (575) 779-2144. I would love to talk with you.

I love your work Monica. It is all so beautiful.

I love all of your ideas! I will be ordering some of these instructions next pay period! If you posted projects about making your own unity candles I would definitely buy them to!

Monica - I loved reading your "About Me". I appreciate you saying that we need to take time for ourselves.
I work from home supporting my husband in his business. I have a son who just joined the Navy and a daughter who is a senior this year. I've found that I kind of lost myself somewhere between raising my two kids and helping my husband. I've been a demonstrator for a total of 10-11 years. I've often thought about giving it up but I'm reminded of how much I like spending time with other women so I hang on. Thank you for sharing a little bit of you - It was encouraging to me.
P.S. I live in Belen, NM

Monica, what an inspiring bio. I am a 71 year old avid stamper. Since I retired from being a Sales Representative in the Paper Crafts Industry I have a Monday morning get together with several ladies and we make, you guessed it, cards etc.
I have just discovered your blog and as I purchase a LOT of SU stamps I really like your ideas. 2 of my ladies are demonstrators, on a part time basis and I try to keep them in business.
Your designs are so refreshing and the projects
just the sort of thing I like to play with.
I am computer illiterate and have just had the courage to learn how to scan and download for the Splitcoast Stampers challenges.
Your last 3 paragraphs were so in tune with my own that I had to say "Thank You" for making my day.
