It has been a very emotional and exhausting week.  It was a very emotional funeral. My husband and I sat there in tears as we could remember our own experience 6 1/2 years ago.  Although some people say time helps you forget, the truth is that when you bury your own flesh and blood you never forget. You take it one day at a time and thank God for the peace that only HE can give.  I received numerous emails and I want to thank each of you for your kind words. I have been touched by your emails about personal experiences each of you have had  in losing your own child or somebody close to you who has lost a child.  I wish nobody had to ever go through this experience.  From the bottom of my heart, I am sorry to all who have experienced this pain.   Thank your kind words and caring hearts. You are wonderful! I love you all!

Today's post is different.  I have been seeing a lot of requests out there for wedding favor and gift ideas.  This pillow box is a one-of-a-kind creation of mine which I shared a year ago but thought with the wedding season coming up it was a good project to pull out again.  This pillowbox is created using a 5" x 7" matte finish photo and is inexpensive and unique.  You must use a 5" x 7" picture in the vertical position. For the sake of cost, I recommend you send your pictures to Costco or Sam's Club.  This is the least expensive option.  Now, this idea is also good for graduations.  Graduations are coming up and nothing is better than a unique party favor that nobody else would have.  Also great for a baby's first birthday, comunion, bridal shower, baptism.  This favor is so easy to make and is beautiful.  If you are going to put candy in it, I would suggest putting it inside a little bag from Stampin' Up! as that will protect it from any chemicals that might have been used when printing the pictures.  Also, matte finish is better because glossy pictures pick up finger prints very easily.

I have provided a tutorial for this pillow box favor and hope you enjoy it.  There is a great tip at the end of the picture tutorial that will allow you to mass produce these without figuring out how to place the picture every time you run it through the Big Shot.  Enjoy!

Teeny Tiny Wishes Sympathy Card and More...

Good Morning Stampers!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  I have to share with you that this wasn't the best weekend for me.  I shared with you all a bib card I made on Friday.  Well, I made that card for a lady from our church who had her little baby boy premature weighing 1 lb. 3ozs.  My husband and I decided that we needed to go visit her and her husband at the hospital on Friday, so we packed the kids and left to Albuquerque.  Before we arrived at the hospital we were informed that the baby had just passed away 20 minutes ago. This was the hardest thing in the world for us but we knew God had ordained for us to be there as we understood this pain too well. 

On September 13, 2003, my husband and I lost our daughter Jacqueline two days after she was born.  She weighed in at 1 lb. 2 ozs. and fought for her life so hard but just didn't make it.  The pain that a parent experiences in losing a child is horrible.  You wonder why, what did you do wrong?  Nothing makes sense at that moment and you wish you could die just to make the pain go away.  As we walked into the bereavement room at the hospital that evening my heart broke for this family.  I hugged her and cried like if it were my child.  I held her precious baby boy in my arms and it hurt so much.  He was so tiny but so perfect!  It has been a very emotional weekend for us and now we prepare to bury this child today.  Yesterday, I made this card for her.  I wanted something soft and serene yet simple.  I have never made a sympathy card.  I was very happy with this card.  Her cousin came over last night and we made her a matching shadowbox to display at the funeral home. Her cousin told me she cried the minute she saw the shadowbox frame with his picture and his baby hat from the hospital.  I just finished a big picture frame for her for this morning.  It has pictures of him along with metal embossed sheets.  It is absolutely beautiful and I pray she will love it.  It is a dreary and snowy day here in Northern New Mexico.  Please pray for this family today and keep us in prayer as we are with them today.  There are no words to comfort this family and all we can do is be there to cry with them and share in their pain.

I hope your week has been blessed and that you are ready for the weekend.  Today I am sharing with you a  dazzling baby bib card.  Some months ago I posted a baby girl bib card and I received numerous emails for the directions on how to create this card.  I decided to create a baby boy bib card using the Pawsitively Prints Designer Series Paper.  I absolutely love the colors in this card.  This card is so easy to make and is sure to be a hit with all who receive it.  You can also stamp "Thank You" and give a pack to the mom to use as thank you cards.  Another suggestion is to use them as a baby shower invitation.  This would also make a super cute invitation for a baby boy's 1st birthday party.  Next week I will share with you a super cute party favor that you can create in minutes for a boy's first birthday party.  It is very unique and is sure to be a hit with all guests as this will be a one-of-a-kind party favor.

Two Posts Today: Eggcoutrements Mini Milk Carton Container, Nursing Home, Winner, and More....

Today I would love to share with you my version of Becky Roberts Mini Milk Carton. This was so easy to make and is perfect just in time for Easter.  I used the Eggcoutrements Stamp Set, Shades of Spring  Designer Series Paper, and many more new items found in the Occasions Mini Catalog.  This is a perfect gift for Easter and it is gender neutral.  I used the colors found in the Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper to make coordinating pieces for this project. The only hint of pink is in the beautiful Kiss Me Pink Metal Embossed Butterflies. 

This is such a wonderful project that is so versatile for many occasions.  I have several people having baby showers and weddings in the coming months, so this would make a perfect favor.  Wouldn't this be beautiful for a wedding with some Clear Window Sheets and some Metal Sheets in the color of the wedding?  There are many metal sheet colors to choose from to fit any occasion. 

Take a look at the beautiful detail these butterflies add to the milk carton.  It looks like the butterflies are just fluttering around the grass.  I LOVE IT!!  I added these butterflies to all four sides of the milk carton containers and it looks dazzling.  The metal embossed butterflies adds a very unique and different touch.  These butterflies are easy to make and can easily be attached with mini glue dots.

Love Bots Valentine's Day at the Nursing Home...

Good Afternoon Stampers,

Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day with the ones you love.  We had an amazing weekend.  We started off by taking the kids for a train ride.  They loved it and we enjoyed spending time with them and relaxing.  Valentine's Day was unbelievable.  My family and my assistant's family went to the local nursing home after church to pass out 100 Valentine's Day cards.  It was an unbelievable time in which we were so blessed and that made our Valentine's Day perfect.  The three children to the left are my assistant's children, my great aunt is in the middle, and the three to the right are my children. 

It was unbelievable to see the love, caring, and tenderness that all our children demonstrated in caring for those who are sick.  They handed out each card with such compassion as they saw so many ill patients.  One moment that stuck in my head forever was when my assistant's son handed a Valentine's Day card to a blind man at the nursing home.  When he realized he was blind, her son opened the Valentine's Day treat so tenderly and placed it in the patient's mouth to help feed him.  I couldn't help but cry.  We realized there is so much we take for granted and we are truly blessed to have our health, our sight, our loved ones with us.  Our husbands were so blessed to be there, too.

My youngest son was very blessed and loved being there with the residents. Everytime he handed out a Valentine's Day card he looked at me and smiled.  I can't explain it but it was a smile from deep within in which I knew he felt so happy to be doing this.  I was so proud of him as he had such a spirit of giving and NEVER asked where his Valentine's Day present was.  He was blessed to be there and it is very visible by his excitement in this picture.   He had a great time visiting all the residents, including our great aunt who is also a resident.

In this picture, you will see my assistant's daughter posing for a picture with her grandmother who is terminally ill.  Her grandmother was so happy to see her and tears streamed down her face to see her precious grandaughter.

As you can see from these pictures, we were blessed. All children big and small partcipated and all were happy to be there. My oldest son helped our daughter pass out Valentine's cards and she made sure to let every patient know it had a stamp and a sticker on it (I think I see a future SU demonstrator, lol).

We were all blessed beyond words and we are so grateful for the wonderful family and friends God has blessed us with.   We have decided that we will continue doing this every other month and visit different places. It is important for all of us to realize how blessed we are.  It is so easy to get so caught up in our own world and think that nobody has it as bad as we do.  Honestly, there is always somebody who has a situation that makes ours look so insignificant.

I encourage each of you to make something and do Random Acts of Kindness and be blessed by the spirit of giving. I would love to hear about those things you have done to bless the lives of others.

Fancy Favor Valentine's Candy Box and Itty Bitty Box Tutorials and More...

Where did this week go?  I think it was the craziest week ever in my household.  Classes, tutorials, Early School Releases, Valentine's Day Cards.  You name it.  To top it all off two cameras gave up on me and decided not to work, so in the midst of it all I have been internet browsing to find a good camera.  I finally found one and it should be here anyday.  I can't wait.  The quality of pictures I have been posting has not been the best and with the cameras breaking we were left with no choice but to make the investment.  Hopefully, I will be able to capture better pictures to share the details of the projects I create.  Due to this problem with the camera, I was not able to take pictures of the Sending Love Mini Scrapbook that was scheduled to be shown this week. Camera is on its way and I will have it released soon.  I have adjusted the mini scrapbook a little bit so that it can be created for that perfect Mother's Day gift for a mother, grandmother, or special woman or for National Scrapbooking Day. 

Today I would like to share this Fancy Favor Valentine's Candy Box I created.  I absolutely love it!  It is so beautiful in person and perfectly holds a bag of chocolate kisses.  My 2 small children have their Valentine's Party today and their 10 teachers received these for Valentine's Day.  They loved it and they were so easy to make.  My oldest son, my husband, and I created them in no time.  This mini box was easily created with the Fancy Favor Box Die Cut, Medium Window Sheets, and the Perfect Polka Dots Impressions Folder.  The Sending Love Specialty Designer Series Paper accompanied with the gorgeous Real Red Satin Ribbon adds the perfect touch of elegance.

Well Scripted Valentine's Day Note Card

I hope you are all doing well and that you enjoyed watching the Super Bowl.  Yesterday afternoon, I had a children's Valentine's Day class and we had 12 children in attendance at the studio.  The kids had a wonderful time creating 30 Valentine's Day Cards using the Love Bots Card Set.  They behaved so well and enjoyed the time together.  After spending time with so many children, it made me miss teaching.  I love that Stampin' Up! has added these great children's kits and hope they will make this a permanent feature in their catalogs.  I can't wait for our upcoming Easter Class in which the kids will decorate 2 dozen eggs and decorate their own basket using the Eggcellent Eggs Kit.  It will be so much fun!  If you are in the area and would love to have your child attend, please call me to reserve your spot.  Our Easter Class is scheduled for Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 1:00 PM.

Today, I wanted to share this easy Valentine's Day Note Card I created using the Well Scripted and I {Heart} Hearts Stamp Set.  It is so simple, yet so dazzling as I created this beautiful border using the Scalloped Border and Corner Punch.  This is a great and easy note card to write a short message to your honey this week as we get ready for Valentine's Day.  There are many sentiments to choose from and you can create one for any occasion you need.  How about using the Whimsical Words Stamp Set from Sale-a-Bration?  The possibilities are endless.  I need to send out three cards this week, and I think I will definitely be creating a simple notecard with both of these stamp sets. Manhattan Flower Wine Bottle and Candle Ensemble and More...

What can I say, "I LOVE THIS ENSEMBLE".  It is absolutely breathtaking in person. The Manhattan Flower Impressions Folder is absolutely gorgeous but then add Plum Metal Sheets and a wine bottle with candles and it is WOW!!!!

Important Tip

Once you have rubbed on the sayings, you must apply a thin coat of clear nail polish over the sentiment so it will not rub off with the natural oils from the hands.  Once the first coat has dried, go over it again and let it dry.  The first coat must be thin or the rub-on will smear off.  I recommend regular clear nail polish and not the 60 second clear nail polish.
