Cool Kids Mini Scrapbook and 12 Days of Christmas Subscription!

I am so excited to share today's project with you.  I created this mini scrapbook as a way to journal a child's school year.  I fell in love with the Cool Kids Simply Scrappin' Kit Stampin' Up! carries as everything is so dazzling and it all matches.  I also love that I was able to personalize it with the school name and year.

When I was designing this project I knew I wanted to use paper lunch bags as that would create a perfect look for a Back-to-School Mini Scrapbook.  As I was searching the internet I found Linda Willman's creation using this kit and was inspired by her work. I just spoke to Linda on the phone and she was so gracious as to let me share these ideas with you.  This scrapbook is a combination of her layouts and mine. Thank you Linda for your kindness. She was truly a wonderful person to speak with. :)

I didn't use any of the butterflies or bugs in my layouts as my goal was to keep it gender neutral. The right side is perfect for adding your child's school picture or maybe one you have taken of them as they left for their first day of school.  I love the colors used in this kit.  Look at the beauty and richness of the Crushed Curry. How about that awesome Spiral Punch?  I have had that punch for almost 2 years now and just used it for the first time.  It is to die for and oh so easy to use. 

Look at these next two pages.  I love it! Here I used the circle cutter and the Spiral Punch again. I love this book because it can be used for a boy or a girl and it still has those rich bold colors we think of when we think of a Back-to-School Scrapbook Album.

As parents, we always have the best of intentions to journal our child's school year and we get so busy and our good intentions go to the wayside.  It doesn't have to be like that this year.  This book is the right size so that you don't feel overwhelmed by the idea of creating it.  All you have to do is add pictures and momentos to it throughout the school year and you are covered.  If you are a teacher, how about having your students create one of these and have them journal throughout the school year and have them give it to their parents on the last day of school.  Your parents will love you forever and ever!! LOL

Check this out!  This is one of my favorite parts of this book.  It has pockets to slide in additional scrapbook pages and momentos you collect throughout the school year.  Isn't that dazzling?  I think so.

You will notice that there is ribbon sticking out of the pockets.  These coordinating ribbons are attached to the inside pages and add the extra dazzling touch it needs.  I love that it all matches perfectly.  That is one of the things I love about Stampin' Up! product.  You never have to worry that something will not match because they make sure to provide the best coordinated products I have ever seen.

Here is one of the inserts.  Isn't it dazzling?  They are double sided so you have more space for journaling and adding pictures.  This book includes four double sided inserts that add an amazing look.  Not only that but you can use them to store additional momentos of your child's school year.   How much fun is it to go back years later and see what your children enjoyed and were doing at school at that time.  Time goes by too fast and we easily forget those moments we don't want to forget.  The best thing is to have your child journal in their own handwriting as that is one more thing that adds to making this mini scrapbook so precious.  Don't you love it?  I do and can't wait to make my own copy.

Blossom Party Bookmarker,12 Weeks of Christmas, and Weekly Contest!

On Saturday, I shared the amazing Scrapbook in a Box that we made at my last club meeting.  I just loved the beautiful flower that was in the middle of the box, so I decided to create a matching bookmarker.  

To create this bookmarker, I used Orchid Opulence, Rich Razzleberry, and Old Olive Cardstock.  I cut out about a 2" x 2" piece of each colored cardstock and ran it through my Big Shot using the Blosssom Party Die Cut.  Now, I did cut 2 flowers using the Orchid Opulence so that I would have a backside for my bookmarker.

Between the Orchid Opulence and Rich Razzleberry flowers I placed a Stampin' Dimensional to give it a little lift and I did the same between the Old Olive and Rich Razzleberry flowers. Before I mounted the Old Olive flower I punched a hole in the center with my 1/16" handlheld hole punch and ran a clear rhinestone brad through it.  Afterwards, I attached another Stampin' Dimensional and finished assembling it.  Of course a flower is not a flower unless it has a little dazzle, so I took my shimmer mist and sprayed away.  Can you see it?  It is so dazzling!! I love it.

12 Weeks of Christmas and Scrapbook in a Box!

Today, I want to share a project we made at our club meeting.  It is absolutely dazzling!  Let me start by sharing that the pattern/layout for this box was inspired by Debbie McNeill's Scrapbook in a Box which she released months ago.  

I love the way this Scrapbook-in-a-Box came out and the amazing thing is that I was able to create 6 boxes with one pack of designer series paper.  Of course, I added cardstock and used my Big Shot and this amazing project was born.  I am loving it! We even made a matching bookmark.  Imagine making these boxes in time for Christmas.  Just use your paper of choice and go for it.  I figured it out and it comes out to about $6 per gift.  That is an amazing price for such an amazing handmade gift.  This box holds 6 pictures.  You will need to cut them down to 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" and just attach them.

 When we assembled this box, we sprayed it with the shimmer mist.  It is so amazingly beautiful!  Heather Summers shared how to create your own shimmer mist.  It is so easy and adds a beautiful touch to all your projects.  All you do is take a travel size spray bottle about 2 ozs. and add a highly concentrated form of rubbing alcohol to the bottle.  Fill it 3/4's of the way and then add 1/2 teaspoon of shimmer paint found in our Holiday Mini Catalog.  Close the lid, shake it up, and spray away!  All the ladies in my club loved it!  The shimmer mist was the whimsical touch it needed since we used butterflies.  We embossed matching cardstock with the Stamp Up! Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plates and cut out butterflies using the Beautiful Butterflies  die cut.  Then we embossed two of the backgrounds inside the box with the same Texturz Plates Set  and also created a beautiful flower centerpiece using the Blossom Party Die Cut.  We then added a finishing touch with matching Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper, clear rhinestones, Three Little Words stamp set, and then we sprayed away with shimmer mist.

 

Here is a picture of the inside of the box.  It is completely covered in shimmer mist.  This scrapbook box holds six 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" pictures.  This picture doesn't do just for the beauty of this project.

 

Here is a picture of the left hand side.  Can you see the shimmer mist?  Here you can also see the beautifully embossed background.  I thought these flowers looked perfect with this butterfly. 

Here is the center flower using the Blossom Party Die Cut.  I added Stampin' Dimensionals to pop it up.  I also sponged all the edges and once I was done I sprayed shimmer mist and curled up the flower.  We made a matching bookmark with this same flower and of course added some more shimmer mist. You will notice in the picture below that we embossed the background to create the same beautiful background.

Serene Snowflakes for World Card Making Day and New Contest!

I am so excited to share with you today's post.  I love this beautiful stamp set in our Holiday Mini Catalog called Serene Snowflakes. The beautiful Christmas Cocoa Specialty Designer Series Paper is a perfect match with this stamp set.  It is breathtaking!

This card I am sharing with you today is the card that we will be making for World Card Making Day on October 3, 2009.  This is an annual event held nationwide by cardmakers in which they celebrate the art of cardmaking.  This year "Add a Little Dazzle" will be hosting a community event at Walmart in Taos, New Mexico from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. 

Our goal is to create 100 cards with matching envelopes to send our soldiers in time for the holidays.  I have predesigned this card and will have all the supplies for the community to come and make this card.  If the person making the card would like it sent to a particular soldier we will do that.   We will also be collecting calling cards and donations for shipping of supply boxes to our soldiers.  I am excited about this event as this will be our way to give back to our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan and say "thank you" for all you do for us.  The VFW Men's and Ladies' Auxiliary Post 3259 will take all collected donated items, calling cards, and greeting cards and ship them in time for Christmas.

As I am finishing up this post, I am watching America's Got Talent.  I am so excited to see that Kevin Skinner and Barbara Padilla have both made it this far. They both have beautiful voices.  For those of you that don't know, God has gifted me with a singing voice. Lately I have been sad because I love to sing and worship God and I haven't done that.  My oldest son has made me promise him that if America's Got Talent has auditions in Albuquerque or in Denver that I will go try out.  I have promised him that if they come to either of those two cities. If it is meant to be then they will have to come to one of those two cities.  If any of you hear that auditions are being held in either of these two cities, please let me know.  I will then let you all know so that you can root me on.

Mini Christmas Bag,Thoughts About Life, and Contest!

Today I have a beautiful handmade mini bag I created just in time for Christmas.  I love this paper that is found in our New Holiday Mini Catalog.  It is so elegant and it is flocked.  Totally dazzling!  Well, I wanted to figure out how I can make my own mini gift bags using designer series paper instead of spending more money on buying those little bags they sell during the holidays that I don't even really like but I buy them anyway because they are the pefect size for those small gifts.  This year I decided I am going to make my own gift bags.  I always end up with extra designer series paper at the end of the holiday season so this year I want to get the most bang for my buck by creating bags, boxes, and gifts with what I have bought for my craftmaking and cardmaking needs and not have leftover paper. This mini bag is great for packaging a gift card, candy, bracelet, earrings, necklance, tickets etc.   The great thing is you can make two bags from one sheet of 12" x 12" designer series paper.  I even pulled out my Pretties Kit that I bought when I joined Stampin' Up! and never used.  This dazzled up hat pin just adds an amazing touch to this bag and all while staying on a budget.  My goal is to help you create dazzling gifts not only for the holidays but for all occasions while staying on a budget.  Holidays and celebrations should not be about how much money we spend.  We can still give beautiful gifts without going broke and that is my goal.  Lets spend more time with family and friends this holiday season and less time on buying gifts we can't even afford. 

As I watched the news this morning and listened to reporters talk about the death of Patrick Swayze, they talked about the wonderful relationship he had with his wife and mother. It reminded me that relationships are what are important in life.  It is not in how much money we spend on a gift we can't even afford to give many times.  Spending time with those we love is what is important.  As Patrick Swayze faced death, I am sure he didn't think about the material things he was leaving behind but about his loved ones. We come with nothing into this world and we leave the same way.

Lets remember this as we get ready for Christmas. We are all facing tough economic times and don't have money to spend on expensive gifts.  Lets get back to creating gifts from the heart that say "I love you, I was thinking of you" and lets work on building stronger relationships with friends and family.  As you have seen, I have shared gifts with you that can be created for under $10 and great inexpensive packaging that has a WOW factor.  That is what I will continue to do.  Not only that, I will also show you how you can take the same designer series paper and create many amazing cards, tags, gifts, and much more. Again, more bang for your buck!

Today I wanted to share with you another dazzling creation using the Medallion Stamp Set.  I love this set and the versatility of it.  I wanted to share with you another inexpensive gift you can make for the holidays that has a WOW factor without breaking the bank. 

Christmas is fast approaching and many of us are already wondering where are we going to get the money for this year's holiday gifts.  Furthermore, how can I stay on a budget while doing this?  Well, with that in mind I created today's project. Many of us have been to our local department store and have seen those beautiful tile coasters that sell for $30-$40. Yikes!  Well, don't despair you can create your own coasters for under $6 for a set of four. That's right! You can make great gifts without going broke.  These coasters are easy to make and since you are using the same stamp set you created the candle with you are getting more bang for your buck.  So, how do you create these?  Just read below and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me.  I love hearing from you! :)

Instructions:

1. Go to your local hardware store and purchase Botticino Tiles.  These are the best.  You don't want anything with a gloss on them.  You want a flat finish.

2.  Take them home and wash them to remove any residue.  Let them dry.

3.  Ink up your Medallion Stamp Set with Chocolate Chip Craft Ink and stamp the image on your tile.

4.  Take the Heat Tool and go over the image until you notice it is completely dry.

5.  Place coasters in a cardboard box and go outside and spray with Matte Clear Acrylic Sealer (can be found at your local discount stores). 

6.  Let the tiles dry for about 20 minutes and spray with another coat of Matte Clear Acrylic Sealer. 

7.  Place one small self stick felt pad (the ones used to protect your table) on each corner of your coasters and wrap them up with a beautiful ribbon and tag.

8.  You now have a perfect dazzling Christmas gift for under $6.

Note: These coasters will absorb moisture well.  You can't use Classic Ink as it will run and smear with time.

Classy Medallion Candle

Good Afternoon Stampers!

Today I am sharing a beautiful candle that we made at last month's club.  I absolutely LOVE the Medallion Stamp.  It is so beautiful and classy.  This candle was so easy to make. I added an extra look to the candle using the Antique Brass Jumbo Eyelets for the center and then put a clear rhinestone brad in the middle.  When I created this I felt like it still needed a little something so I decided to add Antique Brass Eyelets.  That added the perfect touch for this candle.  I then purchased the base which was a picture frame and turned it into a candle holder.  Absolutely dazzling!

Now, if you are not familiar with you to make your own handstamped candle let me share the instructions with you.

1.  Take a piece of tissue paper (gift wrapping kind) and cut it into a 6" x 6" square. 

2.  Ink your stamp of choice with Classic Ink Pad and stamp it onto the tissue paper.

3.  Cut around the stamped image.

4.  Place a little bit of Anywhere Glue Stick to your candle and position your image where you would like it to be.

5.  Cut a large piece of wax paper.  Make sure it is long enough to wrap around the candle and still have a handle to hold onto so you don't burn yourself.

6.  Take the Heat Tool Gun and start heating up the candle by sections.  You will slowly start to see the tissue paper disappear.  Keep moving around or you will create holes in your candle.

7.  Once all the tissue paper is melted into the candle, roll the candle on a table and then remove the wax paper.

8.  You now have a dazzling candle that is perfect for your gift giving needs or for decorating your own house.

As you can see, there are so many things you can create with rubber stamps.  How about purchasing those boxes of candles with stands they sell during the holidays for under $10 and dressing them up with this beautiful stamp and then package it in a handmade bag or box.  The recipient of this gift would love it and so would you because you created a gift for under $10 and it isn't the same boring candle set we all see during the holidays.  It is now a candle set with a little dazzle!
